Aggreko on a mission for seafarers

Dubai, UAE: Aggreko, the world leader in the provision of temporary power and temperature control services, presented The Mission to Seafarers maritime charity with a cheque for more than AED 90,000 during a visit to the Angel Appeal headquarters on June 18th, 2011. Aggreko also donated books and DVDs collected from Aggreko staff, to stock ships’ libraries and 200 rugby shirts.

The money was raised at an auction held in association with the Dubai Rugby Sevens, which Aggreko has supported for many years. The Mission provides a range of services for those stationed at sea for long periods of time, from emergency care to help for crews that may be stranded at sea, and helping to keep sailors in contact with their loved ones - through the Flying Angel SIM card.

Karen Malia, CSR Manager and Volunteer Coordinator, The Mission to Seafarers, said: “On behalf of the Mission, I would like to thank Aggreko for its generosity. We work in 230 ports globally and it is through donations such as this that our work continues to be possible.”

Presenting the cheque and other items to the charity, Phil Watts, Head of Marketing, Aggreko International, said: “It is an honour to be able to present this donation to the Mission to Seafarers. This is an incredibly deserving charity, which provides unwavering support to vulnerable and often lonely sailors working out at sea. We hope that this donation can go some way to ensuring the charity can continue to provide these services in the Middle East and internationally.”
